Last Exit Al Khawaneej
Once again, Smart Box had the privilege of being a part of the super-cool Last Exit project – joining hands with Meraas to build food trucks for Poco Loco, Hot Chix and Jaldi Jaldi. And boy are we excited!
Following the roaring success of the themed food-truck-parks in Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Qudra , Meraas has opened another edition of Last Exit, this time in Al Khawaneej. Designed to complement the primarily farming heritage of the locality, Last Exit D89 offers visitors an authentic food truck experience in the midst of sprawling lawns – complete with vintage western pick-ups, farm animals and bird houses.
Three custom-fitted containers (3x9m) were converted into retail and hospitality spaces, each having its own functional kitchen. While Jaldi Jaldi is an Indian street food concept, Hot Chix serves traditional fried chicken and Poco Loco offers authentic Latin American cuisine. So we built each food trucks to reflect the brand and the culinary heritage it represents, and furnished to reflect the aesthetics of the vendor.
Besides serving visitors and residents the gourmet street food that Last Exit is known for, the venue will also double up as a space for community events over the coming months, aimed at increasing people’s engagement with the space and each other.
Each Last Exit project comes as an exciting challenge for us at Smart Box, both in terms of function and aesthetics. From the gourmet food-truck-park of E11 and the equestrian-themed D63 to the one ‘reflecting the agricultural heritage of the surrounding community in Al Khawaneej’, it has been a joyride all the way. As we hope it will be for you.
We would love to hear your thoughts. Do let us know about your visit there!
